During the pandemic, I wasn't able to go and visit distilleries or travel abroad, so I started travelling vicariously through my gin collection and planned virtual tours around Europe, Scotland and even did 80 (gin) days around the world.
As I planned these and started researching into the locations, myths, legends and stories around each bottle, it became clear to me that there was much more to a bottle than just the liquid inside it. Sometimes the bottle design has an interesting story or perhaps the brand has incorporated history into their story and these are what I found most interesting. Occasionally I would disappear down a rabbit hole and with my research and uncover stories that link to the locations of the distilleries or newspaper clippings that highlight interesting titbits around the brand - some of them were so interesting I would spend days researching before writing a post.
I now tell everyone that every bottle holds a story - whether you take it at face value or want to know more about what you are drinking, these stories have proven to be popular with many of my followers who have urged me to turn them into a coffee table book! That's a lot of work, so for now, here they all are!
